Expert Reviews

92 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine Companion30yo single vineyard, hand-picked and sorted, wild yeast open-fermented, 30 days on skins, matured in small and medium French oak (30% new) for 15 months. Somewhat riper fruit on the bouquet and palate than the alcohol would suggest, but not OTT. Full-on cassis, then powdery/savoury tannins and dried herbs provide the texture and structure demanded by the fruit.
90 Points - Campbell Mattinson - The Wine FrontCassis, strong choc-mint, a gentle dusting of herbs. It ties neatly on the finish but for the most part it flies loose and free, the flavours spilling over themselves to please.

Who made it?

Since 2010, Aaron Woods and Nicholas Crampton have had an insatiable love affair with South Australia’s historic Barossa Wine Region. Unrestrained by tradition, this intuitive winemaking duo are driven by their passion to craft both new wave Barossa Shiraz as well as unique, old-world, varietals, sourced from old-vine vineyards. Woods and Crampton turned to the established Sons of Eden winery to aid them in producing the style of wine they love. The Sons of Eden focus on creating wines that express the flavour and personality of unique, Barossa vineyards. This aligned with the Woods Crampton winemaking philosophy and so the partnership was born. Since inception, production has rapidly increased from 1500 to almost 12,000 cases along with a rapidly expanding range that currently encompasses fourteen different wines. The combination of premium quality wine and exceptional value saw Woods Crampton named one of James Halliday’s Top 10 Best Value Wineries of 2017.
