"Loads of oak and dark berry fruit. A banger at this price."

This wine shows everything that makes Barossa GSM blends great.
There's the fragrant raspberry fruit from the Grenache, backed by the plummy richness from the Shiraz, then followed through by the dark heartiness of Mataro, the Carignan delivering a subtle spicy fleshiness for good measure.
In other words, it's a Cinderella wine - a classic Barossa red, using fruit from old vines in the Marananga and Vine Vale sub-regions (hence the MVV on the label), and made by veteran Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder.

How's it taste?
Vanilla oak aromas lift out of the glass, supported by red fruits with a touch of something darker - perhaps plum? The palate shows darker fruits and spice notes, with oaky tannins and a smoky finish.
How was it made?
This Grenache Shiraz Mataro Carignan blend from the Rolf Binder Wines vineyards, in the sub-regions of Marananga and Vine Vale, epitomises the diversity of the Barossa Valley and its varying wine styles. A unique wine that still displays the rich, abundant fruit flavours and mouth-filling palate that have made the Barossa region famous. Imagine an intensely sunny climate with soils that produce fresh, lively wines when you open this bottle. The structure of the wine will allow for ageing, although the temptation to enjoy this wine in its youth will be a challenge.
Who made it?
Second generation Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder, who is famous for crafting seriously luscious red, classic Barossan red wines. It seems Rolf's popularity is widespread with his fans including none other than Robert Parker, who describes Rolf's wines as 'never excessively oaked (and) possess(ing) extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit'.
