Expert Reviews

94 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitIt is splendidly perfumed on the nose showing mixed berry compote, dark plum, violet, thyme and toasted almond characters with a touch of gamey complexity. The palate is succulent and plump, displaying excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and supple tannins, leading to a lingering delectable finish.
92 Points - James Halliday - Halliday's Wine Companion
92 Points - Gary Walsh - The Wine FrontSpice, dried herb, juicy red fruits, a little stalk in with the red liquorice. Fresh, sappy and spicy, red fruits, some tang and orange peel bitterness, cherry and red fruits and a bright finish, tinged with herbs and good length. Tasty.
92 Points - Steve Leszczynski - QWineSuch a delicious drink to throw in the glass and unwind. GSM for the win! From the get-go it's something you just want to be a part of. Take a whiff and absorb red berries and red fruits, puffs of earth, touches of game meat and even tinges of boot polish. Flavoursome and mouth-filling, the Grenache fruit makes a dash late with some strawberries and raspberries making a play. A 50/37/13 blend, fine and soft spices roll in and stretch their arms out long in a parting embrace. There's so much to like within.

How was it made?

The fruit was generally destemmed only and fermented
separately in open fermenters with pump overs and
hand plunging. Some parcels had whole bunch fruit
added with the final blend being 10%. Foot stomping of
the whole bunches occurred towards the end of the
ferment. Some parcels went into old French oak
puncheons and hogsheads for 9 months before being
transferred to tanks. The remainder of the parcels were
stored in tanks 100% of the time (70% of the blend was
100% tank matured). Parcels were kept separate until
the final blending in September 2017. The wine was not
fined or filtered.
