Lion's Circle is a new label from Great Southern's Plantagenet that features all the Plantagenet classic hits, just like this Chardonnay. Chunky white peach fruit, a layer of nutty oak but with a tight finish. It straddles both old and new school wine here, with real freshness and weight.
Expert Reviews
Beautifully poised and elegantly fragrant, the wine shows white flesh nectarine, fig, lemon peel and vanilla aromas on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that is attractively fruited and seductively smooth. It is wonderfully harmonious and flowing with subtle complexity, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2021.

How's it taste?
Notes of ripe tropical fruit combined with subtle nutty undertones. A lees derived savoury palate with peaches, lemon, nougat and good acidity helps give length with a nutty biscotti and citrus finish. Quality cool climate Chardonnay with moderate use of oak produce a well-balanced, flavoursome wine.
How was it made?
The 2017 growing season saw a dry winter and mild spring was followed by a warm growing season with welcome rainfall in December and January leading to full, healthy canopies enabling excellent yields and great flavour development.
