"An elegant Adelaide Hills Sparkling wine with attractive brioche complexity."
Angus Hughson
Geoff Hardy's K1 vineyard at Kuitpo continues to deliver an impressive array of quality vino, with this bubbly showing that even fine fizz isn't out of the equation.
More of an aperitif style - ie freshness, not heavy flavours - there's a great balance between palate cleansing acidity and then some lovely grapefruit flavours.
Expert Reviews
Attractive pale salmon-pink. Aromas of warm strawberries and candy floss. The palate is lively and bright with pink lady apple flavours and a sherbety finish
A pretty pale salmon hue, rose petal aromas and red cherry and strawberry flavours proclaim the 80% pinot noir lead of this young and fresh sparkling based on the '16 vintage. Fine, bright Adelaide Hills acid line is well matched by a low dosage of 8.8g/l though the finish is marked by firm phenolic structure.

How's it taste?
The nose offers bright aromas of strawberries and green apples with a floral lift. The palate is crisp and vibrant with notes of apple, citrus and watermelon, followed by perfectly balanced acidity.
How was it made?
The greatest sparkling wines in the world owe their excellence to cool climate origins and ancient soils, which are both qualities offered by the K1 by Geoff Hardy vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. The vineyard produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit that is delicate and fresh, resulting in exceptional sparkling wines that dance on your palate. This sparkling will add elegance and smiles to any occasion!
Who made it?
Geoff Hardy's great-great grandfather, the original Thomas Hardy, first planted grapes in South Australia in the 1850s and was one of the founding fathers of the Australian wine industry. In 1980, Geoff left the then family company, Thomas Hardy and Sons, to make his own way in the Australian wine world. Geoff and fellow viticulturalist Ian Leask purchased the promising Pertaringa vineyard in McLaren Vale. A few years later, Geoff found the perfect location for producing cool climate grapes in the Adelaide Hills. He planted the vineyard in 1987 and named it K1 since this unique site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo region in the southern Adelaide Hills. Three decades later, Wines by Geoff Hardy is made up of three South Australian wineries founded by Geoff - Pertaringa in McLaren Vale, K1 by Geoff Hardy in the Adelaide Hills and Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy sourced from a variety of premium regions across South Australia. These brands now make up Wines by Geoff Hardy and continue the 160-year old family tradition of pushing the boundaries of Australian viticulture.

A really great wine deal must must be accompanied by great value. There is nothing better than getting an incredible bottle of wine for a fraction of what similar quality wines sell for. My recommendations gives you the very best "Value for money" wines at different pricepoints.
