How's it taste?

The formula here is simple. We've taken six $20-$30 RRP Barossa Shiraz from six of the most in-form Barossa winemakers around!

How was it made?

x1 Nietschke 'Jack' Shiraz 2017

The grapes were harvested in numerous batches from mid March to late April. Following fermentation for 7 to 12 days on skins in open top fermenters with hand pump-overs twice daily, the grapes were pressed and the wine was aged in hogshead barrels for a year. Both seasoned and new American and French oak was used. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

x1 Clone Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

The Western Ridge is home to a variety of Shiraz clones, each a testament to it's unique terrior. For this wine we identified a single vineyard SHIRAZ CLONE 1127. Positioned north to south, the sun penetrates the vine longer during the day on the elevated free draining soils of ironstone over red clay.

x1 Rolf Binder MVV Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

The Barossa Valley is home to some of the world's oldest Shiraz vineyards. These wines have sustained harsh Australian conditions, with their deep roots enabling the diversity of the subsoil to intensify the fruit. Using such grapes from the Binder Family Estates in the sub-regions of Marananga and Vine Vale, Rolf Binder has created a focused example of Barossa Shiraz that displays elegance with a persistence of flavour.

x1 Lawley Farm Barossa Shiraz Cabernet 2016

Lawley Farm is a Barossa vineyard owned and managed by the 6th generation of the Burge family, that produces exceptional fruit year on year. With a vibrant plum red colour this wine exhibits aromas of raspberry, plum and chocolate with a hint of sweet spice. the palate is bright and lively, dominated by intense raspberry fruit flavours balanced by silky chocolate characters. The understated oak creates long and fine tannins and allows for a well balanced and vibrant wine.

x1 St John's Road Resurrection Shiraz 2017

"The Resurrection Shiraz has a fine tannin structure and clean acid line which cuts through a good level of mid palate sweetness. Dark fruit of plum and mulberry, white pepper and hits of rhubarb round out to a long, smooth finish." James Lienert, Winemaker.

x1 Connor's Farm Barossa Shiraz 2017
