"A big, oaky Barossa Valley Style."

Sarah Linhart

"Syrupy black fruits, raisin and oaky."

Sarah Linhart

This is an utterly classic Barossa Shiraz.

We've loved the last few vintages of MVV, and this 2017 is even more fragrant and polished (thanks to the cool vintage).

A blend of two very select parcels of fruit from Marananga and Vine Vale (hence the MVV), it's a generous Barossa red with great flavour and character.

How's it taste?

With a palate of plush black and red fruits, spicy liquorice and black pepper; it is complex, smooth and full bodied - indulgence in a bottle. Long length and impressive balance, this is a cracking drop from a famed Barossa winery.

How was it made?

The Barossa Valley is home to some of the world's oldest Shiraz vineyards. These wines have sustained harsh Australian conditions, with their deep roots enabling the diversity of the subsoil to intensify the fruit.

Using such grapes from the Binder Family Estates in the sub-regions of Marananga and Vine Vale, Rolf Binder has created a focused example of Barossa Shiraz that displays elegance with a persistence of flavour.

Who made it?

Second generation Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder, who is famous for crafting seriously luscious red, classic Barossan red wines. It seems Rolf's popularity is widespread with his fans including none other than Robert Parker, who describes Rolf's wines as 'never excessively oaked (and) possess(ing) extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit'.
