Another textural wine from the Coates stable, this barrel aged Sauv style shows some genuinely welcome interest.
Importantly, there's still the varietal edge - a hint of passionfruit on the nose, the palate fruit forward and crisp, the middle filled out thanks to the oak ageing.

How's it taste?
The nose displays restrained passionfruit aromas accompanied by banana and hints of stonefruit. The palate is graceful with flavours of guava and citrus with subtle toasty notes from nine months on lees. Bright natural acidity adds structure and balance and leads to a long, crisp finish. A refreshing wine of elegance and class.
How was it made?
Unfined and unfiltered, this wine is made from predominantly Sauvignon Blanc which is fermented in barrel and keep on lees for further flavour development.
Who made it?
Duane Coates has a long held passion for Australian and overseas wines. He expanded his winemaking training with vintages in Burgundy with Chateau Demessey, the Rhone Valley with Domaine Francois Villard and the Douro Valley with the Fladgate Partnership (Taylor’s). Exposure to European wines and winemaking has given Duane a broad perspective on techniques and wines styles and heavily influenced the winemaking philosophy of Coates Wines is not predicated on fashion or blind adherence to dogma. The processes they use (and avoid) have grown from experience and understanding with the aim of making wines in a way that provide sensory delights that are truest to region and variety.
