Made from a single clone - hence the name - it's a beautifully plush and generous red that showcases what the region is all about.
Expert Reviews
Chocolate box, brown spices, dried mint, black fruit. It’s medium to full-bodied, almost a BBQ sauce thing happening, a blackberry tang to the acidity, quite thick and saline, with a some silty fine grained tannin, and an earthy spicy finish, layered with dried mint and dusty tannin. It’s perhaps a bit too salty, but presents well in that Western Barossa kind of frame. Plenty to get your teeth stuck into, is the import.

How's it taste?
Aromas of black fruits, chocolate and spice. A textural palate of blackberry fruit and earthy spice with good acidity and fine tannins for structure.
How was it made?
The Western Ridge is home to a variety of Shiraz clones, each a testament to it's unique terrior. For this wine we identified a single vineyard SHIRAZ CLONE 1127. Positioned north to south, the sun penetrates the vine longer during the day on the elevated free draining soils of ironstone over red clay.
Who made it?
Torzi Matthews is a food and winemaking partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews which began in 1996 when they stumbled across a small, frost-pocketed hollow in the beautiful Mt McKenzie, Eden Valley and fell in love with the area for its remoteness and its diverse thin soils. Domenic and Tracey run the winery with one guiding principal: that their land produce low yields of fruit which in turn translate into flavoursome European style wines – the style of wines needed to match their Mediterranean heritage and food.
