Sarah Linhart

"Rich wine with coffee notes and liqueur cherries. Smooth and elegant with a savoury edge."

Sarah Linhart

If you're looking for big Barossan reds, look no further than this epic red from a real Barossa supergroup. Luscious, dense and so very rich red wine that will live for years.

Expert Reviews

94 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitUp front and inviting, the gorgeously fruited bouquet shows black/blueberry, spiced cherry, floral and roasted nut characters with a touch of spicy complexity. The palate is generously flavoured and rounded, delivering supple mouthfeel and loads of tasty flavours, well supported by silky tannins. Very attractively styled. At its best: now to 2027.

How's it taste?

The Barons of Barossa wine fraternity was founded in 1975 and makes up many of the top producers in the Barossa including Elderton, Henschke, Kalleske, Glaetzer Wines, Kaesler Wines and Yalumba, to name a few. This wine is made exclusively by the Barons for The Wine Society from some of their finest fruit parcels. Lifted aromas of blackberry, earth and coffee follow onto a palate of juicy cassis, dark plum and spice. Fine grained tannins combine with refreshing acidity on the finish.

Who made it?

The wine fraternity Barons of Barossa was founded in 1975 by a group of well-known Barossa wine industry personalities. George Kolarovich (Barossa Co-operative, Kaiser Stuhl) was elected as the first Grand Master. Other founding Barons were Wyndham Hill-Smith (Yalumba), Colin Gramp (Orlando), Bill Seppelt (Seppelts), Sir Condor Laucke, Bruce Hoffmann, Peter Lehmann and Cyril Henschke. The current Grand Master is Stephen Henschke. The Fraternity is administered by the Grand Council which is elected biennially. Membership of the Fraternity is by invitation and is offered to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the Barossa. New Barons are inducted into the Fraternity in a colourful ceremony and membership is for life. The focus of the Barons of Barossa has remained unchanged since its foundation and it continues to proudly and enthusiastically support Barossa wine, viticulture, gastronomy, heritage and the arts. Today the Barons of Barossa are a recognised part of the fabric of Barossa culture and continue to play an important philanthropic and symbolic role. The Barons' motto is "Glory to Barossa".
