How's it taste?
Aged at the cellar for you, this classic Barossa Shiraz still shows fresh, dark plum fruit and oak characters. The bottle age has brought out some subtle floral and herbaceous characters adding nice complexity. Delicious and moreish.
How was it made?
Our most widely distributed wine globally and a wine that represents classic Barossa Shiraz. A collection of five Barossa Valley Shiraz vineyards contribute varying characteristics of fruit to this wine. The Shiraz makes up only 90% of the final blend, with juicy confectionary and red cherries hailing from a very small percentage of Grenache and estate-grown Mataro offering a deep, earthy background on the palate. Twelve months maturation in a mixture of new American oak barrels as wells as two-year old American and shaved French barrels. “This deep blood red wine fills the glass with aromas reminiscent of rich red berries and dark bitter chocolate. Dark cherries enhanced with cassis, anise and pepper mingle on the medium to full bodied palate. Creamy tannins and complex acidity lends to the overall perception of a smooth, rich red wine, with a nice persistence of flavour”. Rolf Binder
Who made it?
Second generation Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder, who is famous for crafting seriously luscious red, classic Barossan red wines. It seems Rolf's popularity is widespread with his fans including none other than Robert Parker, who describes Rolf's wines as 'never excessively oaked (and) possess(ing) extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit'.
