Recommendations
No, a caviste does not go caving (that's a spelunker), rather it's a French word for cellarman.
This fun red blend from Massena is a cellarmasters delight too, all black fruited and heavy with black licorice juiciness. An enormously drinkable plump red.
Expert Reviews
A juicy, fruit-rich expression of the Barossa. Sweet raspberry, anise, plum and dry spice characters party through the palate. It has a bit of spark to it, this wine; it feels firm and well managed and yet it bursts with flavour.

How's it taste?
Black pepper and cake spice are interwoven amongst rose water and turkish delight nuances. A briary, brambly and earth like undertone is offset with vanilla bean and raspberry sweetness. A real ferrous and graphite minerality leads the palate with tart cranberry and plum like red and black fruits giving a piquancy that is definitely moreish.
How was it made?
The Cavisté, or cellarman, can then go through and pick out some unique barrels and make a blend that's high on freshness, complexity and most of all enjoyment. The 2017 vintage is a blend of 85% Shiraz, 5% Primitivo, 5% Petite Sirah, 5% Tannat.
Who made it?
Massena was established in 2000 by Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish. Growing up amongst the old vines of the Barossa inspired a collaboration in making wines of character, balance and a reflection of the sense of enjoyment in the whole winemaking process.
