Orin Swift is right at the pointy end of fine American wine - a cult producer, from the famous Dave Phinney (of Prisoner wine fame), that is hard enough to find in the USA, let alone Australia.
And now they're at The Collective.
This blend of Petit Syrah (aka Durif), Syrah and Grenache is the very definition of hedonism. A beast of a wine, that is all about huge impact and even bigger flavours.

Expert Reviews
You are immediately drawn to the highly compelling aromatics of this wine. Sweet pipe tobacco, dark chocolate molten cake, and blueberry compote aromas come to mind. Despite obviously high alcohol, this is highly poised wine as the tension shines through. Deep mocha, anise, creme de cassis and blueberry pie flavors impress. Seductive and intense, give this beauty at least a two hour decant before enjoying in its youth. Delicious now, this wine will cellar well over the next decade. Drink 2018-2028
Potent, plump and heady dried berry, violet and sandalwood accents power toward broad-shouldered tannins. Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache. Drink now through 2024.

How's it taste?
The calling card of the Orin Swift Cellars style. A Rhone style blend of Petite Syrah, Syrah and Grenache that is aged 10 months in 40% New French Oak.
How was it made?
A blend of Petit Sirah, Syrah & Grenache. Aged for 10 months in French Oak, and has an alcohol of 15.7%. Sourced from across some of the best vineyards in California, outside of the constraints of restrictive appelation law, the wine embodies the spirit of Orin Swift showcasing a seamless blend of both finesse and power.
Who made it?
The history of Orin Swift Cellars dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A few more years of university led to graduation and eventually a job at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 as a temporary harvest worker. Deciding that if he was going to work this hard, it would eventually have to be for himself, so in 1998 he founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. With two tons of zinfandel and not much else, he spent the next decade making wine for others as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.

Wine is such a subjective beast. My brother might love a wine while I absolutely hate it. But that’s why it’s so fascinating - there is something out there for absolutely everyone! So if you haven’t found something that tickles your fancy, here are a few more potential options:
